(This biography is true but Connor is not his real name)
“When I was 19, I was sentenced to six years in prison and felt that my aspirations were gone and my life had been ruined. As I had been given a fairly long sentence, I really wanted to try to make the most of my bad situation and complete as many training courses as possible.
As I had experience of working with my hands and a passion for art, stonemasonry seemed ideal. This course has given me the opportunity to acquire the skills and experience necessary to form a great career in stonemasonry, as well as do something to usefully fill the days, rather than just count them.
This course has given my life meaning and purpose. I look forward to waking up in the morning and learning something new and interesting every day. My family is proud I am putting my time behind bars to good use and learning a respectable, traditional trade.”
