(This biography is true but Freddie is not his real name)
“When I left custody I was only 18: this was already my third time in prison. But this time, it was different. I was leaving with a job.
During the last month of my sentence I met Construct a Future and they arranged some work experience for me. I really enjoyed this and tried my best. The week before my sentence ended, they said I would be offered paid work when I was released. It was such a good feeling knowing I was going straight into a job and at a really good salary too.
The prison also helped get me accommodation as near as possible to my work. I went to site to meet my boss with Construct a Future. Everybody there was so supportive. All I had to do was pass my CSCS test and then I had a job. I passed the test the following week and started work the following Monday. ”
