Changing Lives for offenders in our community Enterprises

Employment is a known key factor in reducing reoffending. Providing work experience for offenders on ROTL (release on temporary license) is an important part of helping offenders prepare for paid work and their resettlement in the community.

Adjacent to HMP Rochester we have created from an old pig barn a bric a brac shop and a manufacturing workshop for garden ornaments. This enterprise provides opportunity for the young men to learn many skills including customer service, teamwork and quality control and builds their confidence.

The refurbishment of the barn was carried over a 6 month period and created a shop area, stone masonry and precast workshop. We are now learning the skills of manufacturing and selling goods to the public. It is always amazing to see how talented these young men can be when given the opportunity and observing their sales skills in action.

Would you like to purchase some garden ornaments?

We sell the garden ornaments every day from various locations and welcome the opportunity to attend offices to promote our work and sell our goods.

Funding

Construct A Future works in partnership with HMP Rochester and Cookham Wood YOI to provide this valuable opportunity for offenders to gain experience working in our different enterprises.

We also owe a debt of thanks to Wates Family Enterprise Trust that has provided much needed funding to bridge the gap in our enterprise returns and costs of delivering this programme.

We welcome any funding and support
